About the film
When an idealistic romance novelist and a cynical literary fiction writer—rival authors with dramatically opposing worldviews and a serious case of writer's block—unexpectedly find themselves living next door to each other in a small Lake Michigan beach town for the summer, they strike an unlikely bet to swap genres and the lines between fiction and romance begin to blur.
Beach Read — directed by Yulin Kuang (I Ship It, Angie + Zahra) — is a romance comedy about rival authors who swap genres while living next door in a Lake Michigan beach town; Phoebe Dynevor leads a cast including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Kevin Bacon, Andie MacDowell, Tig Notaro and Kristin Davis.
